Alexanders is definitely an institution! Run by one of the nicest guys in the city Jamie Northrop – a brilliant night out is guaranteed at his iconic Chester venue.

They’ll be serving their wood fired pizzas and snack menu alongside a great selection of spirits, beers & cocktails. My personal fave is the pepperoni & mushroom washed down with a a special quirky can of lager or ale. During the day they operate table service in the garden, but in the evenings on Friday and Saturday they have superb live entertainment (the comedy is first-class), so if you’re going along make sure you buy your tickets in advance.

Details available here;
(Pizza £7 / Lager or IPA can £4).

Craft & Company

Sister to Liquor & Co and literally just over the road, Craft & Company is a beer lovers dream and another one of our favourites. Like its Big Sis, great cocktails are very much a thing, as well as a really good craft beer and gin selection.

We recommend; We’re lovin’ their new Sunday deli board … making Sundays great again! Please DM them through their Facebook page to book your table. Cheers 😉

Kuckoo Chester

I love Ryan! He runs one great bar. Amazing kocktails and great service to a soundtrack of everyones favourite tunes. This bar is dangerous – in as far that you lose all track of time, which is perfectly acceptable at the weekend of course.

Any bar that can stick a Caramac in your drink as a garnish and a crispy creme doughnut over a milk bottle full of boozy gorgeousness has got to be right up there. And it is.

His entry for Chester Food and Drink Week is Rose Queen. A heady mix of vodka, rose petal liqueur, St Germain, lemon juice, strawberry pureé topped with Prosecco.

Sounds divine!

Liquor & Co

Gotta love Liquor & Co. This is a super-cool bar with a super-friendly team run by the main man Mouse! Always ready for action, Mouse and the rest of the crew serve delicious drinks with the best brands, and with a serious amount of old-school-bar-charm. They’re currently open Thursday to Saturday evenings for bookings and walk-ins.

Some say he’s a wizard, others say he’s a magician. But whatever fantastical creature he may be, Martyn makes magical drinks in a fairytale bar far far away.

If you can find him, ask him to make you a ‘Coming Up Roses’ cocktail.

Strawberry infused gin, Fernet Branca menta, raspberry syrup, egg whites (to make it all frothy and luxurious) and finished with a spritz of rosewater across the top, garnished with a dried rosebud. 🌷

Dreamy Martyn!

Vin santo

Chester has just become an even better place with the arrival of Vin Santo on Watergate Street. Located in a stunning crypt steeped in history, this gorgeous new wine bar serves 32 wines by the glass as well as an impressive fizz list and gin selection. Owner Simon Parkinson is crazy about wine and his knowledge is such that we have crowned him our resident Wine Expert for the city.

Taste Experience; Who doesn’t love a little bit of affordable luxury? Enjoy a classic champagne cocktail made with Piper Heidsieck for this week only … see you on Thursday Simon!
